Other Palestine & related Events at the EWJF

From 6 June to 23 June, Bridges not Walls
Just how high is the Segregation Wall around the West Bank? Visit St.John’s Church to find out. A section of the Wall has been constructed to show the actual scale of the wall... but if it was laid down flat, it would make a better bridge! Walls do not bring security or peace: building bridges of trust do.

Wednesday 18 June, Witnessing Reality
8 -9pm, St George’s West Church, Hadeel

The Ecumenical Accompaniment Programme in Palestine and Israel (EAPPI) sends volunteers for three months to accompany Palestinians and Israelis in their non-violent actions to end the occupation. Come and hear first-hand from Andree Ryan, who has recently returned from three months in the West Bank. What is really happening in the “Holy Land”? What do ordinary people think of the peace process? Why are international observers urgently needed?

Friday 20 June, Look Behind the Wire with Moazzam Begg and Aamer Anwar
6 - 7.30pm, St John’s Church, Scotland Against Criminalising Communities

Former Guantánamo prisoner Moazzam Begg and lawyer Aamer Anwar will talk about the way in which the US-British “War on Terror” is denying basic human rights to people, many of them refugees who have already suffered more than enough.

Monday 23 June, Non violent Resistance in Occupied Palestine
8 - 9.30pm, St John’s Church, Scottish Palestinian Forum

A presentation, illustrated by slides and film, on non-violent resistance in Hebron and the south Hebron hills, where Palestinians’ lives are badly affected by the presence of Israeli settlements.
