Bill Aitken MSP

I defer to the views of a foreign government:
"I have not heard the view of the Israeli Government."

Gavin Brown MSP   I support invading other countries, but not 'interfering' in them:
"The issue of Mr Vanunu is not a devolved one and on this occasion I will not be signing the Motion S3M-418 on the basis that it is not appropriate to interfere with the domestic policies of another country."

Ken Macintosh MSP   I am too cowardly to say why:
"I do not agree with the motion."

George Foulkes MSP   I am a vile slanderer who knowingly peddles malicious lies with no basis:
"Israel’s nuclear status was widely assumed before Mr Vanunu sold his story and in fact, it is understood that he did not provide any information the intelligence agencies did not already know, yet he still chose to leak confidential government information to the press for a financial reward. Therefore, Vanunu’s status as a "whistleblower" is highly questionable along with the motivations for his actions."

Charlie Gordon MSP   The rights of some of my student constituents to communicate with their elected Rector without risking his freedom is not something I am prepared to publicly support, although I will make soothing noises in private:
"This is a devolved issue."  "I sympathise with Vanunu"

This article on Peter Hounam and Vanunu in Ha'aretz proves George Foulkes to be a deliberate liar. Foulkes refused, and still refuses, to discuss his allegations with a large number of his constituents, or with journalist Peter Hounam who revealed Vanunu's original story to the world. Hounam has written: "Vanunu was motivated by reasons of principle: he was concerned that Israel's nuclear program was, in his view, out of control, that there wasn't Knesset supervision of the program, or public monitoring of any sort. Financial reward was not his motive. The fact is that he did not receive money from us for our report."
Foulkes refuses to withdraw his easily refutable slander or meet with his constituents and Scottish PSC will be reporting him to the Scottish Parliament's Committee on Standards

Israel lies that Vanunu has nuclear secrets to reveal. They also peddled the absurd slander that Vanunu supported terrorist attacks on Israeli civilians.
Hounam told Haaretz that when he worked on the original disclosure, "Mordechai always refused to divulge the names of people with whom he worked in the Dimona reactor, and he refrained from revealing details about security arrangements there. He claimed that such details weren't needed for our report, and that such disclosure could put those people at risk."
