SUMMARY:Palestine 1936
DESCRIPTION:PALESTINE 1936: The murderous role of British “heroes” in crushing the Palestinian struggle \nAfter the British crushed the Palestinian revolt\, Montgomery said he was “sorry to leave Palestine…I have enjoyed the war out here.” The British deployed to Palestine methods and personnel from Ireland\, where Montgomery had served in what he called “a murder campaign in which…[British] soldiers became very skilful…My own view is that to win a war of that sort\, you must be ruthless.” \n➡️ Join us for a discussion on how the British in 1936-39 ensured Zionist success in the ethnic cleansing of 1948. \n📅 Wednesday 12th November\n⏰️ 7 PM\n📍 Zoom \n📣 Speakers – \nHazem Jamjoum is a Palestinian cultural historian\, archivist\, and educator based in London.\nHe is the lead editor at the recently established publishing house Safarjal Press (@safarjalpress). SUMMARY:ABERDEEN: Free Speech on Palestine Lecture
DESCRIPTION:Join us at Aberdeen’s inaugural Free Speech on Palestine Lecture\nIn late 2024\, the University of Aberdeen cancelled an event with Mandla Mandela on campus\, based on spurious and unfounded accusations of antisemitism. This was just a small part of a much bigger picture demonstrating that the University was doing all it could to quash voices speaking out against Israeli genocide\, apartheid and occupation. This included the targeting and disciplining of staff and students\, as well as the Palestine Solidarity Society. \nWith the planned event cancelled\, we went ahead and organised an alternative event outside\, on campus\, with around 100 people joining to hear Mandela’s empowering message of solidarity and hope. \nScottish PSC\, in partnership with the Palestine Solidarity Society\, are therefore initiating an annual Free Speech on Palestine lecture\, taking place on University grounds. We are delighted to announce that this year’s guest will be Jackie Walker\, a long-time activist and writer\, who has been targeted for her outspoken campaigning on Palestine\, both by the Labour Party and the University of Aberdeen (who cancelled her event in 2017). Please join us to keep up the pressure on the University of Aberdeen\, and in making it clear that we will not be silenced in the fight for Palestine’s liberation. \n  \nJoin online: https://qrco.de/Jackie-Walker
