SUMMARY:Speaker event: Erik Helgeson\, Swedish Dockworkers Union
DESCRIPTION:Erik Helgeson\, Vice-Chair of the Swedish Dockworkers’ Union\nJoin us for a rare opportunity to learn from a high profile International trade union activist\nDockworker and trade union activist Erik Helgeson is coming to Scotland to share lessons from the front line of international labour solidarity! \nAs a leading figure in the Swedish Dockworkers’ Union\, Erik helped organise bold industrial action for Palestine and has became a symbol of workers standing up for their principles in the face of union-busting attacks. \nHe will describe how his employer seized on the action\, using it as a pretext to dismiss him\, the case is now proceeding through the Swedish Labour Courts. \nAn international fundraising campaign has enabled the union to employ Erik directly allowing him to continue to carry out his responsibilities sending a clear message to the port employers that union-busting will not pay off. \nJoin us for a powerful discussion on how workers can act ethically and strategically on international issues. \nWe will look at worker power\, union democracy\, and what Scottish trade unionists can learn from struggles for Palestine in workplaces across the world – and crucially how we can take action of our own. \nErik is also speaking in Aberdeen and in Edinburgh at the Workers Day School for Palestine. \nREGISTER NOW

SUMMARY:ABERDEEN: Prisoners Day Film Screening
DESCRIPTION:Join this public event on Friday 17th April to mark Prisoners Day calling for the freedom of 9\,600 Palestinian political prisoners in addition to the unknown number of Gaza detainees held in military camps and torture centres run by the occupation. This includes 3\,532 ‘administrative detainees’ held without trial or charge. \nPrisoners Day has been marked annually since 1974 when prisoner Mahmoud Hijazi was released by the occupation in the first prisoner exchange between the Palestinians and ‘Israel’. It marks Palestinian resistance and the endless capacity of the Palestinians to oppose the occupation. In this vein\, we will be screening the film Palestine ’36 by Ammemarie Jacir narrating Palestinian resistance to the British Occupation. We will also hear contributions and first hand reports from former Palestinian political prisoners. \nAs ever\, Palestinian food will be served\, in keeping with Palestinian tradition.

SUMMARY:ABERDEEN UNITY MARCH - Join the Palestine bloc
DESCRIPTION:Aberdeen has a proud history of fighting racism and fascism. As far-right voices try to divide our communities\, we come together to say: no to racism\, no to hate! \nFrom our streets in Aberdeen to the streets filled with rubble and blood in Gaza and across Palestine\, we stand with people who have endured displacement\, oppression\, and injustice\, yet continue to resist\, organise\, and demand their rights with courage and dignity! \nAround the world millions have risen to challenge these injustices\, marching\, speaking out\, and refusing to stay silent in the face of oppression. That same spirit is here\, in Aberdeen. \nWe march for refugees escaping desperate situations.\nWe march for our neighbours facing racism on our streets.\nWe march for those suffering daily in Palestine\, and in Lebanon\, Syria\, Congo\, Sudan\, and Iran. \nJoin the unity march this Saturday 18th April at 10:30am. \nStand with local campaigners\, trade unions\, faith groups\, and all who believe in a city that welcomes\, not excludes. Together\, we are stronger united. \n  \n
