David Miller and Jeanette Findlay have just addressed two successful meetings in Scotland despite the strenuous efforts of the Zionist lobby to silence Prof Miller.
One major question refuses to go away, however. why did Police Scotland intervene last week to ask Renfield Centre, Glasgow, to "reconsider" a July booking by Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign. This led to the Monday meeting and discussion having to move to an (excellent) adjacent venue to hear Prof. Miller and Jeanette Findlay, of UCU-Scotland
At one level the Jewish Telegraph is just a shameless pro-Israel propaganda sheet with feeble claims to being journalism at all, but their report of Police Scotland intervening with Renfield Centre management to ask them to "reconsider" their acceptance of a booking by a Palestine solidarity group is corroborated by the Centre's management.
Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign invited David Miller to address meetings in Scotland because, apart from sharing a common commitment to Palestinian liberation from Zionist dictatorship, we have also both been found to be entirely free of any anti-semitic motivations, Miller by two Bristol University-commissioned, QC-led enquiries and SPSC by two Scottish courts throwing out as entirely without merit charges against members of "racial aggravation". This has not prevented, indeed has intensified, the screams emanating from the Zionist rabbit hole that both are hardened purveyors of Jew-hatred. All entirely evidence-free.
Prof Miller has researched and published extensively on the power of political lobbies to influence political and social outcomes. Jeannette Findlay is Vice President of the University and College Union-Scotland; she explained the reasons for UCU-Scotland's support for David Miller and other victimised academics and the vital need to defend the right of academics to publish their research and debate the findings openly.
The Quaker Meeting House in Edinburgh intially rejected Zionist pressure to cancel the Tuesday night event but then collapsed and cancelled the booking a few hours before the meeting was due to begin. We quickly relocated to a venue a few hundred yards away and the photo below shows part of the relocated Edinburgh audience.
Also on Tuesday, two SPSC members and David Miller met with the management of Glasgow's Renfield Centre to discuss what had happened and how to avoid such problems going forward. The meeting was productive. SPSC intends to send an updated version of this briefing pack to venues across Scotland and ask to meet up to discuss issues of free speech, natural justice, Palestinian advocacy and the abundant evidence of vexatious claims of anti-semitism against wholly innocent individuals and groups.
The question remains - why did police Scotland intervene with the Renfield Centre, Glasgow, to ask them to "reconsider" the SPSC booking for David Miller to defend himself?
Police Scotland and the Jewish Telegraph are reported to have raised ludicrous issues of possible disturbances and threats to staff safety at the venues. But that scare can not have been genuine since no Zionist protestors or Police Scotland officers even appeared in the vicinity of either event. In fact none of these supporters of ultra-violence against Palestinians in Palestine have ever disturbed the tranquility of Palestine advocacy meetings in Scotland.
Sadly no question remains as to the lack of integrity of the UK Quakers HQ. When opponents of Israeli crimes are under fire from the pro-Israel lobby they issued this statement that can only be read one way:
"After further consideration this booking at Edinburgh Quaker Meeting House has been cancelled. Quakers in Britain believe that all forms of racism, including antisemitism, are barriers to building a just and peaceful world."
Some of our readers will be shocked that the Quakers have joined in smearing a wholly innocent person when the pro-Israel lobby barks at them, Treacherous creatures piling in against a victim of a miscarriage of justice. David Miller has already been vindicated as not remotely anti-semitic (see above) but when he is vindicated yet again by an employment tribunal next year or by the European Court of Human Rights if necessary, UK Quakers will forever have this shameful low blow to their discredit if they do not move to expunge it .
Father Philip Berrigan put his life on the line against another great crime and said, "If they come for the innocent without walking over your body and mine, then a curse on our life and a curse on our religion." The witch hunters in the service of Israeli apartheid who keep on coming for the innocent won't need to walk over Quaker HQ bodies - they will be available as stepping stones for the attackers.
