In Palestine, Land Day commemorates the end of the tree planting season and commemorates historical and ongoing land expropriation and suppression of Palestinian Resistance. On 30th March 1976, Israeli police killed six Palestinian citizens of Israel as they were protesting Israel’s expropriation of thousands of dunums of Palestinian land in the Galilee. The Israeli occupation continues to escalate in the West Bank and illegal settlements are expanding daily.

A walking challenge to raise funds for the Plant a Tree in Palestine project. There are a range of challenge options to suit.
These are taking place in
- Aberdeen
The Aberdeen team will walk from Portlethen to Newburgh, a distance of 25 miles, equivalent to the whole length of the Gaza Strip. This will be the third time the branch organises a walk along this route, which will be more poignant this time as they reflect on the genocide in Gaza. The hikers will be joined along the way by a group of young people who have been involved with the protests for Palestine over the past 17 months.
THE PATH: depart from Portlethen at 8:00 AM, following the coastal trail to Aberdeen – through Torry, the harbour, and Beach Boulevard. The group will walk North, along the beach, until they are greeted by the seals in Newburgh. Further details will be provided upon registration.
- Argyll and Bute
Team Argyll & Bute have organised walks for different levels. The walk in Dunoon is flat and accessible. They are also visiting the ruins of Arichonan village, where tenants resisted during the forced Highland Clearances. Now we resist the greenwashing of the ethnic cleansing of Palestine, from our wee toons in the Argyll forest.CHOOSE YOUR PATH:

Edinburgh
The Edinburgh team will tackle the ultimate 7 Hills Walking Challenge in a beautiful display of solidarity with Palestine and the resilience of its people. They will climb not one, but all of Edinburgh’s historic hills – with speakers at each summit. In true SPSC spirit, no one will be left behind: the team will walk “as fast as the last person”. The final stop will be Calton Hill, Edinburgh’s Disgrace, where hot drinks and snacks will be served for a warm welcome.
THE PATH: Gather at the Scottish Parliament from 9:00 AM to begin the 27km marathon, covering the Seven Hills of Edinburgh: Arthurs Seat > Blackford Hill > Braid Hill > Craiglockhart Hill > Corstorphine Hill > Castle Rock > Calton Hill. - Glasgow
The Glasgow team have organised a family friendly walk “From the River”, 10k or 5k through Glasgow’s beautiful West End. Join the team on this scenic route to create a powerful display of solidarity in the city. Reflect on Glasgows rich history of political activism, from South Africa to Palestine!
THE PATH: depart from the Riverside Museum at 10:15 AM for an expedition of approximately 10 KM through Glasgow’s West End. Highlights include Partick, Hyndland, Bingham Pond, the Forth & Clyde Canals, Kelvingrove Park, and much more. - Moray
The Moray Team will take on the Coastal Trail, towards the Covesea Lighthouse – a symbol of hope and light. This is relatively easy terrain, with interesting rock formations, historic fishing villages, an old railway line, and a clifftop path with dramatic views – finishing on a sandy beach. Voted one of the 20 most breathtaking coasts in the world by National Geographic Traveller Magazine!
THE PATH: the walk starts at Burghead Harbour at 11:30 AM, towards Hopeman and continues to Covesea Lighthouse (7.5 miles). The trail starts with a 2.7 mile accessible path leading to a clifftop walk and finishing on a stretch of sandy beach.
