Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign - Glasgow Branch Public Meeting
Friday 17th May 7pm
The Ark, 70 Coplaw St G42 7JG
The current Israeli Minister for prisons is Ben-Gvir, a murderous fascist who has called for Palestinian prisoners to be executed to reduce overcrowding in the Israeli prison system. Amnesty and other human rights groups have documented "horrifying cases of torture and degrading treatment". Torture is systemic in Israeli prisons, even worse now under Ben-Gvir.
Eyad Elyan (image T/L) lived his teenage years under military occupation in Abu Dis, a Palestinian village in the West Bank. During the first Palestinian Intifada (1987), he was arrested aged 16 by Israeli soldiers. Despite subsequent arrests by the military occupation forces, he successfully completed his education in Palestine and the UK in computer-related disciplines. He is currently a renowned Professor in AI and Machine Learning based in Aberdeen.
Eyad will share his personal testimony of the Israel prison system, explain the forces at work in the Israeli society to de-humanise and subject the prisoners to sadistic treatment, and the extreme peril the thousands of Palestinian prisoners now face,
We will also discuss an SPSC project to promote the prisoners' case and deliver what we can by way of solidarity in a time of genocide.
