SUMMARY:Glasgow Barclays Protest
DESCRIPTION:Protest Barclay’s complicity and profiting from genocide\nBarclays is bankrolling Israel’s genocide against 2.3 million Palestinians in Gaza. \nA report published in 2024 detailed Barclay’s financial ties to companies producing weapons and military technology used in Israel’s attacks on Palestinians. \nIn addition\, Barclays has an agreement with Israel to act as a ‘primary dealer’ for its government bonds. This means it helps Israel directly to raise money to fund its genocide and apartheid against Palestinians. \nThe Palestinian BDS National Committee is calling on concerned people to boycott all Barclays services as well as for all financial institutions to divest from Barclays until the bank ends its grave complicity in Israel’s attacks on Palestinians\, \nJoin us for our weekly demonstration at Barclays Bank on Argyle Street.

SUMMARY:Defend the Right to Protest Genocide
DESCRIPTION:NEW TIME 1.30 PM \nStand With Us on 16 June – Defend the Rght to Protest Genocide \nOn Monday 16 June SPSC founding member Mick Napier will appear from custody at Glasgow Sheriff Court\, having been held since Friday 13 June. \nOn Friday morning\, Police Scotland officers arrested Mick at his home for breaching bail conditions\, specifically for being within the vicinity of Barclays Bank on Argyle Street in Glasgow and for approaching Sammy Stein. Stein is an ororganiser with Glasgow Friends of Israel\, a racist organisation whose activists receive training from Israeli government officials to counter the success of the boycott\, divestment and sanctions campaign against Israel (BDS). \nEvery Saturday\, Stein and his friends harass the Barclays Bank protesters in Glasgow\, baiting and filming protestors directly in their faces. Police Scotland has refused to intervene to prevent Stein’s aggression. \nLike many other Palestinian rights activists across Scotland and beyond\, Mick Napier is under charge for protesting Israeli genocide\, stepping in to hold institutions and corporations to account for their complicity when our governments have failed. \nThis is part of a pattern of legal harassment. Mr. Stein and his associates have previously tried—and failed—multiple times to secure convictions for “racism” against those who speak out against Israel’s war crimes. Courts have repeatedly dismissed these charges. But still they return\, hoping that this time they can succeed in silencing dissent. \nWe must not allow supporters of genocide to hide behind false accusations of racism. Mr. Stein and his group do not represent all Jewish people—many of whom\, here in Scotland and around the world\, stand in solidarity with Palestine. \nThis is about silencing protest\, criminalising solidarity\, and shielding war crimes from scrutiny. The Israeli military’s crimes\, including documented massacres of women and children—as recently reported by a UN committee—must be exposed\, not protected by false accusations of racism. \nWe will demonstrate on the steps of Glasgow Sheriff Court from 1.30pm on 16 June\, with guest speakers calling out the lies of Glasgow Friends of Israel and the shameful collusion of Scottish politicians\, Scottish prosecutors\, not to mention educational\, sporting\, and other institutions. \nAfter the demonstration\, attend the court proceedings. \nJoin us. Stand up for truth. Stand up for Palestine.

SUMMARY:'Time is killing us' - SPSC delegation report back
DESCRIPTION:All are welcome to this public meeting organised by SPSC Glasgow. \nHear a report back from SPSC delegation members recently returned from Occupied Palestine. \nWhile we keep our eyes on Israel’s genocide in Gaza\, it is important to see the broader situation of Palestinians living under Israel’s military occupation and apartheid regime. While the Israeli government continues their brutal attack and siege on Gaza\, its military works with violent settlers in the Occupied West Bank in attempts to ethnically cleanse Palestinians from their land. \nHear firsthand accounts from SPSC members from their recent visit. Part of their visit was with partners of the Stop the JNF Plant a Tree in Palestine project – one farmer told the delegation about living under occupation and rapidly encroaching settlement building on his village land; he was keen to make us understand that ‘Time is killing us’. \nFind out what we can do to organise and escalate our solidarity with the Palestinian people.

SUMMARY:How the British state weaponises Jews for its racist pro-Israel agenda
DESCRIPTION:Les Levidow\, Jewish Network for Palestine (JNP)\nThu 29 May 7pm\nCCA 350 Sauchiehall St\, Glasgow G2 3JD\nLong before the current Gaza genocide began in October 2023\, British state repression deployed the falsehood that all Jews are Zionists to intimidate pro-Palestine politics through the criminal law\, e.g. as hate speech. \nIn recent months it has banned Saturday protests anywhere near synagogue services (especially near the BBC’s London HQ) and threatened criminal penalties against any defiance. Now a draft Bill would authorise the Home Office to ban protest near any ‘place of worship’\, in a context where such objections have come mainly from pro-Israel spokespersons for synagogues. This agenda helps to protect many agents of the state’s racist\, genocidal agenda against the Palestinians. \nHow can we best fight this threat? \nLes’ brief April speech here with Dr Swee Ang\,

SUMMARY:No One Left Behind: Mick Napier on trial
DESCRIPTION:Join us on the steps of Glasgow Sheriff Court on 7th May at 9 am \nWhat’s Happening? \nOn Wednesday\, 7th May\, two separate trials have been merged to be dealt with together in Court 13. One alleges threatening and abusive behaviour inside the Barclays branch on Argyle Street during our\nprotest against its financing of genocide. The other charge is of religious hatred and excessive noise\, eight days later (6 October) outside Kelvingrove Art Gallery. \nWhy We’re Here \n\nBarclays Trial (Argyle Street): all protestors stood facing away from branch staff at all times\,\nmaking clear our anger was directed at Barclays’ profiteering from genocide\, not at individual\nemployees. It will be difficult to sustain a charge of threatening and abusive behaviour when the\naccused turn their backs on the victim throughout!\nKelvingrove Trial: Charges of “religious hatred” stem from complaints by Glasgow Friends of\nIsrael – a group notorious for manifestations of extreme racism over a long period of time\,\nincluding calls to “euthanise” Palestinians and welcoming the 2019 White supremacist massacre\nof 51 Muslims in New Zealand mosques. Our protest was against an event organised by advocates and partners of the genocidal Israeli regime.\n\nThese absurd charges echo two decades of legal harassment\, ranging from racial hatred and assault\nallegations to being stopped for “driving too slowly”—and follow convictions for organising unauthorised\ndemonstrations\, including two Covid-regulation breach convictions the same week as drunken\nDowning Street parties. \nWhat Next? \n\n9am – 10am: Rally on the courthouse steps – hear brief speeches\, connect with fellow campaigners\,\nand show solidarity.\n10am: Head into Court 13 to show support for the accused and opposition to the wave of repression\nof those opposing Israeli genocide.\n\nWhat’s at Stake? \n\nSetting yet another dangerous precedent for criminalising protest against genocide and the use of religious aggravation charges to deter opposition to the Israeli genocide.\nPermitting “hate-speech” charges to be used against vocal opponents of Israeli government\npolicy.\nFurther threats under the Terrorism Act and fresh Barclays-related racial-hatred charges loom.\n\nHow You Can Help \n\nBe There – Your presence amplifies our message: opposing genocide is not a crime.\nSpread the Word – Share this invitation on social media and in your networks.\nDonate – Legal costs are mounting; every contribution helps us fight back.\nStay Informed – Follow updates on the website www.scottishpsc.org.uk\n\nSolidarity Now – Resistance Always \nYour support on 7 May will send a clear message: when they target one of us\, they target all of us\, and we’ll stand together\, leaving no one behind. \nJoin Us on the Steps of Glasgow Sheriff Court on Wednesday 7 May at 9:00 AM

SUMMARY:First Picture Documentary Film Screening Tour
DESCRIPTION:Screenings and Q&A with director in Glasgow\, Edinburgh\, Perth\, Aberdeen\, Forres and Ardrishaig. \nWelcome to the FIRST PICTURE DOCUMENTARY FILM SCREENING event. \nThis is a national tour throughout Scotland with the following dates and locations: \n\nFriday\, 18th April @7pm – CCA\, Glasgow.\nWednesday\, 23rd April @ 7pm – St Augustines\, Edinburgh\nThursday\, 24th April @ 7pm – ESOL\, Perth\nTuesday\, 29th April @7pm – Quaker Meeting Hall\, Aberdeen\nWednesday\, 30th April @ 7pm – The Courthroom\, Forres\nTuesday\, 6th May @ 6pm – Ardrishaig Village Hall\, Ardrishaig\n\nPalestinian Prisoner’s Day is marked each year on the 17th of April\, and the situation for prisoners in Israel’s torture jails has never been more urgent\, as we see systematic physical\, sexual & emotional abuse as well as the rising death toll of detainees\, including the first child. \nThis year\, Scottish PSC will screen the documentary ‘First Picture’ (2006) by Akram Al-Ashqar\, who is doing his PhD in film at the University of Glasgow\, at locations across Scotland. Akram will join us for Q&A sessions following the film. \nFirst Picture (2006) tells the story of a Palestinian child born in one of the Israeli Occupations prisons. He is released without his mother after nearly 3 years in prison. Set in Tulkarm Camp for Palestinian refugees\, the film follows this child’s life as he is reunited with the rest of his family and formally imprisoned friends of his mother. \nAt the time of writing\, there are 9500 political prisoners\, including 350 child prisoners. Walid Ahmad was one of those children and was killed in March of this year\, following 6 months of detention without charge. He was just 17 years old. His body\, as is policy of the occupying forces\, has been withheld from his family. \nJoin us as we discuss the film\, the current situation for Palestinian prisoners & what we can do in Scotland to build effective solidarity. \nBook your ticket here \n
