NOTICE OF SPSC PUBLIC MEETING IN EDINBURGH
The Edinburgh branch of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) are hosting a public meeting on Thursday with speakers from Gaza and Scotland.
Professor Haider Eid of al-Aqsa University in Gaza will discuss via video-link issues relating to the upcoming UN vote on Palestinian statehood, and the revelations earlier this year of the “Palestine Papers”.
The meeting will be chaired by SPSC chair, Mick Napier. The Evening News revealed in July that the 64 year-old Edinburgh lecturer was jailed in Israel and deported back to Scotland after he told Tel-Aviv airport staff that he had been invited by Palestinian families to take part in a week of cultural activities and tree-planting in Bethlehem.
Also speaking will be retired Scottish Government statistician, Frank Thomas, also deported alongside Napier, and Fiona Law, a volunteer with the International Solidarity Movement recently returned from the West Bank.
Thursday’s meeting begins at 7:30pm at Augustine Church in George IV Bridge, and is free to enter. More details are available on the SPSC website: www.scottishpsc.org.uk

4. Mick Napier and Frank Thomas were arrested, jailed, and deported back to Scotland in July this year. 13 Britons were amongst 700 mainly Europeans who were prevented from traveling to the West Bank town of Bethlehem.
