SPSC launched the Time to Divest campaign following a conference on divestment in 2013. The conference was a space to learn from activists who had experience of divestment campaigning – Students Against Israeli Apartheid at Carleton University (Canada), US Campaign for Palestinian Rights, Norwegian People’s Aid, and the Palestinian BDS National Committee.
The Time to Divest campaign has focused on urging Scottish Local Authority Pension Funds to divest from companies complicit in Israel’s violations of Palestinian rights.
Since October 2023, the Time to Divest campaign has taken off with branches across Scotland. The campaign continues to be a priority campaign for SPSC.
