with Marc Wadsworth, 27 September 2020
Mick Napier in conversation with Marc Wadsworth about the new version of his book, which has been extensively re-written from 20 years ago, 'Comrade Sak: remembering forgotten African Caribbean and Asian political heroes'. Anti-Palestinian racism saturates the UK body politic, from Downing Street and Parliament down. We discuss Palestine in the wider context of British Empire and resistance in the colonies and here. A staunch supporter of Palestinian freedom, Marc Wadsworth was one of those life-long campaigners against racism who were witch-hunted from the Labour Party following sinister accusations of 'anti-semitism' levelled against him. Marc founded the Anti-Racist Alliance in 1991 and helped set up the campaign for justice after the murder of Stephen Lawrence two years later. The ARA worked with human rights lawyer Geoffrey Bindman to draft a bill to make racial harassment and racial violence specific criminal offences. The proposals became law some years later.
