Support the Swedish Dockworkers

Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) expresses our full solidarity with Erik Helgeson, who was informed by the Port of Gothenburg, that they intend to dismiss him for allegedly violating the law on state security.
This decision was taken after the Swedish Dockworkers Union voted to hold a six-day blockade against ships transporting military equipment to and from Israel.
The decision to dismiss Erik who is vice president of the Union was announced just an hour before the approval of the industrial action by the Labour Court.
The sacking is a vindictive measure, taken against legitimate union activity, a move that undermines both trade union rights and the fundamental right to freedom of speech.
This is not just about one individual – it is about upholding democratic principles and protecting the right of all workers to stand in solidarity with those facing injustice.
The Swedish Dockworkers Union has asked for us to call on Gothenburg RoRo Terminal and its majority stakeholder DFDS to rescind the accusations they have made and reinstate Erik immediately.
