Israeli blockade fuels Gaza poverty - 16 Dec 07
“Hospitals in Gaza have declared a state of emergency and have shut down operating rooms, the water system is struggling to operate, and power outages are scheduled for 16 hours a day or more. According to Gisha: "This is an intentional crisis, well-planned in advance. For months, we have warned that Israel is not allowing Gaza residents to purchase the amount of industrial diesel they need in order to produce electricity. At the beginning of January, we warned that the reserves were depleted. The arithmetic is simple: if Israel prevents the power plant from obtaining the amount of diesel it requires, the plant cannot operate. This is an intentional decision designed to harm civilians, in flagrant violation of international law".”

Gaza: Israelis cruelty of their government
“We call upon the Jews of the world in whose name the Israeli government purports to speak, and upon their rabbis and communal leaders in particular, to speak out unequivocally against this offense to the very moral core of Jewish values. And we call upon the peoples of the world to let their officials and leaders know of their repudiation of this cruel, illegal and immoral act—an act that stands out in its cruelty even in an already oppressive Israeli Occupation.”
Gaza: UN Rapporteur says Israel is committing war crimes
“The killing of some forty Palestinians in Gaza in the past week, the targeting of a Government office near a wedding party venue with what must have been foreseen loss of life and injury to many civilians, and the closure of all crossings into Gaza raise very serious questions about Israel's respect for international law and its commitment to the peace process.... Those responsible for such cowardly action are guilty of serious war crimes and should be prosecuted and punished for their crimes.”
The UN Special Rapporteur, John Dugard, 18 January 2008
Gaza: Palestinians say Israel is committing war crimes
“War crimes are being committed against the Palestinian civilian population in the Occupied Palestinian Territory by Israel, the occupying Power, which has never, despite any and all peace efforts, ceased its crimes and merciless human rights violations against the Palestinian people. In this regard, I regret to inform you that, in the 10 days since my last letter to you, the occupying Power has killed at least another 37 Palestinians, including several children.”
Letters dated 15 January 2008 from the Permanent Observer of Palestine to the United Nations addressed to the Secretary-General and the President of the Security Council
Gaza: children despair under Israel's brutal terror
“My son Mustafa asked me if we would remain without electricity forever. "Perhaps," I replied. Then my five-year-old son Ahmed said that he wished he had a spaceship so he could leave the whole universe - not just the earth. I felt sad - aged only five and six my children have already had enough of this life.”
