SPSC will be at the Mound at 5.30pm today behind our banner: Support the Arab Revolutions", to show our solidarity with the people fighting for freedom in the Middle East and North Africa.

SPSC Chair Mick Napier is still in Tunisia. He reported yesterday that,

When dictators fall and Arabs rise, Israel is weaker. The demonstrators last night in Tunis included the chant, "Open the borders. Millions will march to Palestine". The mass rally yesterday had a Palestinian and Egyptian flag right alongside the Tunisian flag.

The protest movement that is sweeping across the Middle East is a disaster for US policy in the region, Hosni Mubarak was the America's key oily in the Arab world. Now regimes in Jordan, Yemen, Algeria and even Bahrain - home of the US fifth fleet - are under threat from mass protest The anti-war movement has consistently opposed western intervention in the region and supports the struggle of the people there for freedom and democracy.
