REPEAT WARNING – Dishonest fund-raising by Khalil Al Niss/Afaneh

Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign is forced to write, again, to warn against Mr. Khalil Al Niss (a.k.a. Afaneh) who is asking for cash donations on behalf of the people of Gaza.  Al Niss/Afaneh is a crook with a very long record of fraud. Al Niss/Afaneh specialises in defrauding women with whom he strikes up a relationship before defrauding them in some cases of tens of thousands of pounds.

Newspaper reports here in Scotland have revealed his dishonesty.  He is currently the subject of police investigations here in Scotland.

Al Niss/Afaneh appeared in Paris yesterday to solicit cash donations and claimed to be working for a ‘charity’ working to help Palestinians.  He used a van with the dishonest logo ‘From Scotland to Gaza’.  Al Niss/Afaneh does not work for any charity and is taking nothing whatsoever from Scotland to Gaza.  He is now well known here as a crook and would be unable to practice his trade in Scotland. That is why he has now moved on to pastures new, including Paris.

In view of the mounting agony of Gaza, Al Niss/Afaneh's dishonest activities must not dissuade others from donating – with due care – to the many reputable organisations that either deliver urgent humanitarian aid to Palestine or work throughout the world to build solidarity with the people of Palestine.

We will continue to contribute to the movement for boycott, disinvestment and sanctions against Israel. This is the main demand from Palestinian civil society to the citizens of those countries whose governments support Israel’s never-ending crimes.  We must ask all to take up the call from the President of the UN General Assembly, Fr Miguel D’Escoto Brockmann, for a world-wide campaign of boycott, disinvestment and sanctions against the apartheid regime in Tel Aviv.
