Students union could boycott Israeli products

Press Release
The Stirling University Students Association Senate voted 35 - 1 (1 abstention) to support a motion that calls for SUSA to boycott Israeli goods. As a result of the decision by students at the open meeting a referendum will take place where students will once again decide on whether or not to support the motion 'Oppose Anti-Semitism and Oppose the Occupation'. This comes on the back of last years successful campaign where SUSA students agreed to twin with a Palestinian students union and condemned the Israeli occupation; that campaign was won with a huge ratio as well.
The proposer of the motion, Gordon Clubb, called for people around Scotland to rally around the campaign. "Stirling Palestine Solidarity Campaign call's for all student union's in the country to take inspiration from our student's courageous decision and propose similar motions. If we can win these then we can win a similar vote at the national level through the NUS. It's not won yet at our university all the same; we still have the referendum, but we are encouraged by the massive support shown. If we win that, then people fighting for equality, justice and peace in Israel/Palestine can now count the student's movement as the latest addition to join the internationl campaign to boycott Israeli apartheid."
