- Israel's ongoing bulldozing of Palestinian homes and killings of peaceful demonstrators
- Desmond Tutu’s description of Israel’s long-term treatment of the Palestinian people as “an abomination”.
- Ex-President Jimmy Carter’s statement that Palestinians 'are treated like animals' and his description of the Israel occupation as ‘apartheid’
- Condemnations of Israeli crimes by the majority of Ministers in the Scottish Government
- UK juries’ findings that the Israeli Military murdered British citizens Tom Hurndall and James Miller
- The evasion by Israeli Generals of British arrest warrants against them for war crimes
This branch / Region / District agrees to
- actively support the call by the Scottish TUC for a campaign of boycott against Israel
- publicise widely the conclusion from the UN Special Rapporteur, for Human Rights in the Occupied Territories, Jewish-American Professor Richard Falk, that Israel’s “targeting of civilians…represents severe and massive violations of international humanitarian law as defined in the Geneva Conventions.”
- seek to end any investments from union funds in Israeli companies
- send a delegation to the upcoming Trade Union Conference on solidarity with Palestine and boycott of Israel , sponsored by the STUC
- invite an eye-witness speaker from the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign to make a presentation on the situation in Israel / Palestine
- particpate in the next fact-finding Palestine Solidarity Delegation to Palestine / Israel
