Aberdeen sponsored walk

We're trying to build links between Aberdeen and Palestine, and one way we are hoping to do this is through involvement with PalestineConnect. This charity started in 1999, and funds the founding and running of community-aided learning centres. It currently runs three centres based in refugee camps in Gaza. In the last year alone, over 3000 children have completed free IT-related courses in the centres. For more info see www.palestineconnect.org/

We are starting our fundraising attempts on Saturday September 18th 2010 when we will be embarking on a sponsored walk along the Aberdeen coast for a distance of 25 miles, the equivalent length of the coast of the Gaza Strip. The plan is to draw as much attention as possible to the fact that 1.5 million Palestinians live in a strip of land so small that it can easily be walked in about 10 hours, captives within this tiny area, and denied the rights to trade by land or sea.

We'll have flags and banners, and be handing out leaflets en route.
