For 25 years SPSC has led the campaign in Scotland for the cultural and sports boycott of Israel. Campaigns and actions have targetted Israeli sports teams, films, events and artshows sponsored by the state of Israel, the Jerusalem Quartet and the Batsheva dance group, the Edinburgh International Film Festival, Edinburgh Fringe, and the Edinburgh International Film Festival.
In line with the Palestinian guildelines for the academic and cultural boycott of Israel, we target Israeli sporting teams and cultural performances supported by, or with funding, from the state of Israel. Our success has provoked a reaction from Israel and their supporters here in Scotland and the UK, leading to the establishment of the Building Bridges with Israel cross party group at the Scottish Parliament, set up to counter the advance of the BDS movement in Scotland.
