Correspondence between SPSC and Jerusalem Post

... I’m the UK correspondent for the Jerusalem Post. Could I please get comment from you regarding the St Andrews’ Jewish Society charity ball. The SPSC stands accused of initiating a campaign of intimidation – aggressive phone calls and emails – in order to coerce the hotel to cancel the event. Can you please respond to this accusation. Should we not be promoting dialogue, debate, understanding and the sharing of ideas?

I understand also that the event went ahead, and raised more than originally expected. I am hearing also that a couple of individuals are campaigning to raise more money for the charities in question on the back of this incident. Can you comment on this also.

In the light of the letter from Eden Springs to the Scottish Government will the JP issue any kind of correction following its repeated accusations that SPSC lied concerning Eden Springs contracts being cancelled across Scotland? (Scottish pro-Palestinian group 'fabricates' story of Israeli boycott)
The Jerusalem Post repeated the untruth, as we now know it to be (http://goo.gl/rhALI), several times, for example here (http://goo.gl/YDMd7).

So what is the point, Jonny, in us pointing out that there is no truth whatsoever in the accusations? I note you use the passive voice “SPSC stands accused” to mask agency, i.e. politically committed Zionist groups who smear all public protests against the racist JNF and the Israeli Army as “intimidation”, “threats” etc. For the avoidance of all doubt, there is no evidence that anyone associated with any of the groups campaigning against the raising of funds for the JNF and friends of the Israeli Army used threats or intimidation. Naming and shaming is quite another matter.

There are no surprises here; the attribution to us of “a campaign of intimidation” is what we have come to expect from people who wish to change the focus of attention from the Israeli Army dropping white phosphorous on crowded areas or the JNF’s open discrimination against non-Jewish citizens of Israel.

Inspector Meek, of St Andrews Police, is reported saying that they had no serious concerns about policing the event. I suggest your fabricators be advised to report their claims of intimidation to St Andrews police and supply details.

We will continue to work for Palestinian freedom from illegal Israeli occupation. We are happy to dialogue with anyone as to how to achieve universal human rights but not whether Palestinians deserve them and not with those who have dispossessed Palestinians by colonization for decades and continue brazenly to do so.
