VALENTINES MASS DEMONSTRATION AGAINST CARMEL-AGREXCO

The Valentines Day period is one of Agrexco UK's busiest times as the company deals with large amounts of fresh flowers from Israel and the settlements.   A mass picket of the Carmel-Agrexco depot on the 10th February 2007 has been organised in Middlesex in opposition to the sale of Israeli Apartheid goods and in support of Palestinian farmers.

Don't buy your Valentine's Day flowers or strawberries from Agrexco!  Check the labels in the supermarkets - Agrexco supplies many stores such as Sainsburys and Tesco.

Analysis, The Grassroots Palestinian Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign, September 18th, 2006
The recent report from the World Bank, An Update on Palestinian Movement, Access and Trade in the West Bank and Gaza, vividly illustrates the damage that is being done to Palestinian people and trade by the ongoing occupation. It further highlights the extent to which the World Bank is complicit with Israel's designs to enclose Palestinians behind the Apartheid Wall.

Profiting from the Occupation: The corporate interests fuelling conflict in Palestine
Nick Dearden, War on Want, 6 July 2006
We hear little from the Palestinian Occupied Territories other than endless death, destruction, poverty and despair. While living standards plummet and the death toll rockets, it’s difficult to imagine a less likely place to make a profit. But despite the humanitarian catastrophe unfolding, and the international attention it receives, names familiar on high streets across Europe and the US are actively supporting Israel’s Occupation of Palestine through their business practices threatening to prolong the misery of the Palestinian people for many years to come.

Crime in the Valley: Life on the Other Side of Palestine
Nick Dearden, War on Want, 5 July 2006

Basem Fuqaha: "We are isolated, just as Jerusalem or Palestinians in ‘48"
Community Voice, Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign, May 8th, 2006
Last year the Occupation launched a huge "development project" to expand the settlements and their farms in the Valley. Companies like Carmel Agrexco (of which the Occupation directly own 75%) make enormous profits from this Occupation policy. The majority of their goods come from the Jordan Valley being transported from packing houses in the Valley to European markets in 24 hours. With distribution depots in most countries in Europe - including major supermarket chains international support for Occupation exports sustains the mechanisms that create devastation for Palestinians. While Palestinian agriculture and livelihoods are being destroyed, undermining the existence of villages and farms throughout the Valley, the need for a strong and coordinated boycott of Apartheid Israel and its exports is more vital than ever.

Gaza Farmers Further Squeezed by the Occupation
Latest News, Palestinian Grassroots Anti-Apartheid Wall Campaign, January 14th, 2006
Every Palestinian farmer is obliged to label crops as Israeli Agrexco products in order to be able to export them through the Occupation monopoly. The Occupation Ministry of Agriculture forces the Palestinian farmers to undergo expensive Israeli testing procedures before any kind of export is possible. Strawberries are to be put in small plastic boxes, indicating the place of production and the weight of the box before and after packaging. All these procedures raise the production costs enormously, yet the Occupation monopoly company places the weight of all these expenses on the farmers.

Apartheid and Agrexco in the Jordan Valley
Lena Green, The Electronic Intifada, 4 September 2005
JORDAN VALLEY, PALESTINE -- In Israel and the Occupied Territories the colour orange is symbolic of opposition to the Gaza 'disengagement'. It can be seen on banners; t-shirts; propaganda material; protesters storming the old city in Jerusalem or the young people with petitions gathering signatures in Israeli bus stations. Orange streamers are handed out at road junctions in Israel and attached to cars flying down the settler-only highways of the West Bank.
