Edinburgh branch newsletter – March 2014

Edinburgh SPSC Branch Newsletter : March 2014

Scarlett Johanssen has recently given an inadvertent boost to the Boycott, Divestment and Sanctions campaign.

Her decision to choose profit over principle and dump Oxfam for Israeli settler company Soda Stream changed her overnight from an ambassador for a humanitarian charity to become the Hollywood face of Apartheid.

The controversy reached the mainstream media and raised the profile of the worldwide BDS campaign in the eyes of the public in the UK. Articles appeared in newspapers such as the Financial Times and questions were asked on Channel 4 news.

You can join the BDS movement, join us here at the Edinburgh branch of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign.

We begin in March with our campaigning at Sainsburys.

And this month we have a special 3 for 1 deal!

The beginning of March marks the mid-point of the national 'Fair Trade Fortnight' and as a one-off event we will have a big presence outside of the Sainsburys store on East Rose St, next to St Andrews Square. Meet with us there this Saturday 1st March at 1pm.

Also there will be the San Ghanny group who are publicising the 'Open Shuhadah Street' action in support of the Palestinians in Hebron. There will be music and verse and a few other interesting activities going on.

Join us for this fantastic event. 1pm-3pm
