SPSC Edinburgh: Discussion Session on ‘Pinkwashing’

Join our meeting for an open discussion on building solidarity with Palestine
Each month we choose a different topic for the session – this month is Pride Month and we will look at ‘Pinkwashing’
Pinkwashing is a propaganda strategy used by Israeli, it cynically exploits concern for LGBTQIA+ rights to foster a false image of tolerance and equal rights to conceal its system of colonialism and apartheid over Palestinians.
Tel Aviv is marketed as a prime destination for international queer tourists, rendering invisible Israel’s violence against LGBTQIA+ Palestinians, of course Israel’s regime of genocide, occupation and apartheid does not spare queer Palestinians.
The session is participatory and reflective, with differing perspectives encouraged.
This meeting is for members and will take place at Augustine United Church, if you are not yet a member you are welcome to come along, find out more about our campaigns and join up.
Our meeting schedule (subject to change) for 2026 is:
- Ordinary Meeting – First and third Wednesday of month
- Discussion Sessions (On a chosen topic) – Second Wednesday of month
- Introduction to SPSC Meetings – Will be arranged AdHoc to meet need
