Glasgow City Council condemns Israel crime: “…one day Holocaust card will buy no more friendship.”

Glasgow City Council condemns Israeli government and calls for end to Gaza blockade.

Glasgow City Council last week passed a motion that "condemns the action of the Israeli government in carrying out the attack on the freedom flotilla, killing nine volunteers embarked on a humanitarian mission and asks for an independent enquiry by the International community into who should be responsible for this atrocity."
The self-styled 'Glasgow Jewish Representative Council' had the cheek to write to Glasgow City Council defending Israel, potentially implicating Glasgow's Jews in what Scottish First Minister, Alex Salmond, recognises is an 'atrocity'.  Salmond correctly declares that Scotland's Jews - Scottish citizens - are not to be judged by the actions of the State of Israel

A Glasgow JRC spokesman said to the Jewish Telegraph today (2nd July 2010): "We are extremely disappointed that the Council passed this motion in view of the communication we sent to it."

Stanley Grossman on behalf of the extremist Scottish Friends of Israel, denounced  the motion as based on hearsay and false allegations and referred to Glasgow City Council's indifference to Israeli occupation soldier Gilad Shalit, captured and detained by the authorities in Gaza (which is held in captivity by Israel).  Councillor Colin Deans, chairman of the Scrutiny Commission, dismissed Grossman's nonsense as 'nonsense'.

Cllr Deans added: "Build ever higher walls and appropriate ever more land and one day the Holocaust card will buy no more friendship or support. Then where will Israel be?"
