March pension fund divestment letter to councillors
Dear Palestine supporter
Please read and send the March email to your Councillors regarding your local authority pension fund investments that facilitate Israel's crimes against the Palestinian people. We are already making a difference. You can join in and keep up the momentum. Please send a letter of your own and share this article with anyone you know in Scotland.
The March 2019 letter now begins:
We do not want to risk Scottish pension fund investments being in the spotlight for facilitating Israeli war crimes during an International Criminal Court hearing of the Israeli Military's "intentional shooting of children, knowing them to be children".
A report by UN Human Rights Council investigators published on February 28th calls for war crimes trials after Israeli snipers killed 189 and maimed over 6,000 Palestinian demonstrators.
"Israeli forces… have intentionally shot children, they've intentionally shot people with disabilities, they've intentionally shot journalists, knowing them to be children, people with disabilities and journalists," said one of the investigating commission.
The 22-page report finds that protesters who posed no threat to the soldiers were picked off by snipers from a distance while standing with Palestinian flags, paramedics were shot dead while aiding the wounded, and children were killed while sitting, dancing or standing in a crowd.
The investigators called for their findings, including the identities of shooters and commanders, to be forwarded to the International Criminal Court, which opened an investigation into allegations of Israeli violations of Palestinian rights in 2015 and whose Chief Prosecutor warned Israel in October of the possibility of war crimes trials.
