Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign lost a member, Mundher Al-Adhami, who passed away on 11 March in Tunis. Mundher was an Iraqi activist, born in Baghdad in 1942 who joined and led opposition to dictatorships in Iraq and the Arab world. Since 1990 he fought the policies of siege and war led by the United States on Iraq and other countries. In the education field was a member of the UK Mathematical Association (MA) Council, editor of the MA magazine "Equals", CEO of the educational consultancy Cognitive Acceleration Associates, founder of the education charity Lets Think Forum, co-author of several manuals and academic papers on cognitive education.
He combined research on general levels of knowledge and thinking, e.g. in assessment and progression in Mathematics at Kings College London School of Education, with editing the 1970s clandestine Arabic language periodicals on Iraq "Al-Nasear" then "Al-Ghad".
When we are tempted to fall into despair we reflect on the quality of the opposition and the quality of the fighters on our side for a better world.
Our sincere condolences on their loss go out to Mundir's widow, Haifa Zangana and all their family.
