MP CAUGHT IN THE ACT
On this day in 2017, the second episode of Al Jazeera’s The Lobby showed Joan Ryan MP, Chair of Labour Friends of Israel, fabricating a charge of antisemitism against Labour Party member Jean Fitzpatrick at the party’s 2016 annual conference. Ryan attributed anti-semitic quotes to Fitzpatrick, which a video recording proves conclusively she never uttered. Ryan went to the media with her claim which she said was symptomatic of a crisis of antisemitism in the Labour Party (such that later she would have to leave).

في هذا اليوم من العام 2017م، في الحلقة الثانية من برنامج قناة الجزيرة "ذي لوبي" تم عرض جوان ريان النائبة البرلمانية ورئيس جماعة أصدقاء إسرائيل في حزب العمال البريطاني، وهي تلفق تهمة معاداة السامية ضد عضو حزب العمال جين فيتزباتريك أثناء مؤتمر الحزب السنوي لعام 2016م. وقد نسبت ريان أقوال معادية للسامية إلى فيتزباتريك، كانت عبارة عن تسجيل فيديو يثبت بشكل قاطع أنها لم تتفوه قط بتلك الألفاظ. وقد لجأت ريان إلى وسائل الإعلام بإدعائها والتي قالت عنها أنها بمثابة أعراض لأزمة معاداة السامية في حزب العمال (حيث أنه لاحقا لابد لها من مغادرة الحزب).
Ryan was caught on video ‘lying’ to smear critics of Israel
On 20 February, Ryan joined seven other Labour and three Tory MPs in resigning from their respective parties to join a new 'centrist' parliamentary faction. Ryan, Chair of the Labour Friends of Israel, claimed she resigned over a “scourge of anti-Jewish racism” that she claims has “infected” Labour under Jeremy Corbyn.
