ONE FAKE ANTI-SEMITISM CLAIM SHOWN TO BE FALSE
On this day in 2015, BBC Radio 4 statistics programme, 'More or Less', examined and demolished a claim which greatly exaggerated popular antisemitism in the UK and magnified Jewish fears. 'More or Less' demonstrated clearly that pro-Israel campaigners had promoted false statistics that were picked up and circulated by the office of the Mayor of London, Boris Johnson, and the Metropolitan Police. This is possibly a unique example of the BBC critically scrutinising and refuting fake anti-Semitism claims.

The More or Less nine-minute broadcast is well worth a listen
{https://soundcloud.com/scottishpsc/bbcs-stats-programme-more-or-less}London Mayor Boris Johnson's office had picked up and promoted the fake anti-semitism claim originally pushed by the Metropolitan Police.
The Daily Mail/Telegraph/Times/Jewish Chronicle frequent contributor Angela Epstein who thought she could run with with this particular fake antisemitism claim is currently denouncing Tory MP Christian Wakeford's defection to Labour, as "a bitter betrayal of the Jewish community". Claiming all Jews support the Tories seems clearly anti-semitic, liable to generate hostility from many quarters.
The critical, professional examination and demolition by the BBC's 'More or Less' of fake allegations of antisemitism is a lonely example of integrity at that organisation. More representative was an atrocious "hatchet job" in July 2019 by the once-investigative Panorama Unit...which hatchet job the BBC defended.
Not just the BBC - there was also a time when Jeremy Corbyn and scores of other MPs stood firm against baseless smears of anti-semitism. On that occasion the defenders of the racist JNF (Jewish National Fund), a bogus charity registered separately in the UK and in Scotland, retreated into silence.
