SCOJEC'S BRAZEN ATTEMPT TO DECEIVE THE SCOTTISH FIRST MINISTER
On this day, 19 July, in 2008, Scottish First Minister Alex Salmond wrote to SPSC that he was “disappointed” that material alleging SPSC involvement in anti-Semitic activity had been surreptitiously inserted into a SCoJeC publication after he had provided a supportive foreword. The First Minister said he was “unaware of the additions which had been made to the text” until we alerted him to his possible involvement in a defamation suit against SCoJeC, who had to pulp 6,000 copies of their defamatory and dishonest publication.

First Minister Alex Salmond sent this letter to SPSC, cc-ed to Ephraim Borowski of SCoJeC, a co-author of the book that was doctored in an attempt to dupe him. SCoJeC and Borowski did not respond.

Dear Mr. Napier
I am writing in relation to the new edition of Scotland's Jews for which I provided a foreword...The foreword which I provided for Scotland's Jews was based on a text which did not contain the references which are now the subject of concern...I am disappointed that comments which may be construed as offensive were contained in the version of Scotland's Jews which accompanied the launch meeting...Therefore, please take this letter as a reply to the letter of 1st July from Bannatyne, Kirkwood, France & Co to Mr. Maxwell on the subject...
I am copying this letter to Mr Ephraim Borowski

ALEX SALMOND
The Scottish Council of Jewish Communities (SCoJeC) is an organisation with a track record of maliciously and dishonestly making allegations of anti-Semitism against a range of bodies that support Palestinian human and national rights, including the Scottish TUC and our own campaign.
In June 2008 SCoJeC published a volume entitled Scotland’s Jews over the name of Ephraim Borowski. The work contained the malicious, dishonest and libellous allegation that Scottish campuses had been experiencing “publicity campaigns that demonise Jews by organisations such as the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign.” Following libel action initiated by SPSC, all 6,000 copies of the book had to be pulped.
It is indicative of the dishonesty of SCoJeC officers involved in this affair, the lengths they will travel to smear opponents, that the allegation of anti-Semitism, utterly without foundation, was surreptitiously inserted into this publicly subsidised publication only after Scottish Government officers had checked and agreed to support the volume. SPSC alerted the Scottish Government to the libel and the implications of their being dishonestly manipulated to endorse it.
How the Israeli lobby fakes anti-semitism - Part 3 of Al Jazeera's superb sting operation on the Israeli Embassy's agents spreading money around British politics and targetting critics of Israeli with anti-semitism smears. Watch and be angry.
Undercover video shot by Al Jazeera reveals the lengths to which some leaders of the UK’s influential pro-Israel networks will go to discredit their critics. Part three of The Lobby shows the chairperson of Labour Friends of Israel falsely claiming a Palestine Solidarity Campaign supporter had abused her with anti-Semitism.
