EVIDENCE SUGGESTING ISRAEL MURDERED ARAFAT
On this day in 2004, Yasser Arafat died. Professor Francois Bochud, head of the Lausanne Institute of Applied Radiophysics, is the co-author of a report into the causes of Arafat’s death which concluded that the high levels of polonium – a rare and highly radioactive element – found in Arafat’s remains and personal effects indicated third party involvement in his death. Bochud said cautiously, “Our data lean more towards the thesis of poisoning than in the opposite direction”.

"In 2002, Ariel Sharon told the Maariv newspaper that he regretted not "eliminating" Arafat during the invasion of Lebanon in 1982. But he also stressed that Israel had later made a "commitment" not to harm him. However, Mr Sharon is alleged to have told former US President George W Bush in April 2004 that he no longer felt bound by this promise."
