Scottish PSC residential weekend of political discussion: 12-14 August 2011
"Arab revolutions and European crisis: the changing context of Palestine solidarity"
12-14 August 2011, from Friday 6pm until Sunday 1pm
Weekend accommodation: youth hostel (£32) or camping (£8) + Meals for whole weekend: £5 min donation
Discussions will include:
- Arab revolutions, Western reaction
- Palestine solidarity during European crisis
- The coming UN vote: Yes, No or Abstain?
- The politics of the Palestinian BDS call
- Dealing with the Zionist 'anti-Semitism' card
- Know your Enemy: Zionism today
Arab revolutions are transforming attitudes across the entire region; Palestinian refugees have peacefully marched through Israeli minefields to get back to the areas they were driven from by Zionist militias.
European governments have always worked against the Palestine solidarity movement. They have consistently used their media to hide or downplay solidarity campaigns while spending vast sums supporting Israel as well as regional dictatorships that work to prevent any effective Arab solidarity movement emerging. Today, these same governments can still find the money for war while asking millions to accept cuts and unemployment to undo chaos caused by banks.
We have no ready-made manual to steer us through the exhilarating rapids of this revolution. The weekend in Glen Prosen will be your opportunity to join in a discussion and shape the ideas so necessary to provide effective solidarity to the Palestinian people.
