West Lothian

The SPSC West Lothian branch came together in February 2024, initiated by a group of residents inspired to act in solidarity with Palestine and to organise similar activities that were taking place in Edinburgh, Glasgow and beyond. Over the past year, the branch has been actively engaged in raising awareness and advocating for justice in Palestine through meaningful initiatives.

West Lothian comrades began with a launch event featuring Palestinian and Jewish speakers, setting the tone for the branch’s ongoing efforts. The branch has since hosted regular information stalls in Linlithgow and Livingston to promote the Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions (BDS) movement, and raised the Palestinian flag on Dechmont Law as a symbol of solidarity.

In 2024, SPSC West Lothian branch marked Nakba Day with a vigil at Balbardie Park of Peace in Bathgate and leafleted at Livingston Football Stadium, a collaboration with Red Card Israel Glasgow.

To reach a wider audience, the branch organised banner drops over the A899 footbridge and M8 motorway and proudly marched for Palestine alongside West Lothian Pride. The branch also successfully lobbied local councillors to pass a motion of support for Palestine in the West Lothian Council.

SPSC West Lothian hold monthly branch meetings on the first Tuesday of every month at 6pm.
