SPSC letter to Jewish Council of Scotland

The day after Sheriff John McCormick delivered his verdict in Glasgow Sheriff Court, you rushed to publish the following statement, dated 24 December 2025:

“Glasgow Jewish Representative Council and the Jewish Council of Scotland welcome yesterday’s Glasgow Sheriff Court verdict finding Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign founder member Mick Napier guilty of a racially aggravated breach of Section 38 of the Criminal Justice and Licensing (Scotland) Act 2010.”

You were made aware shortly after the Scottish Sheriff Appeal Court sitting on 23 June 2026 that the judges had quashed that racial aggravation conviction you had welomed. You were informed that the Appeal Court strongly criticised Sheriff McCormick’s decision to convict, on the basis that there was no evidence presented of any racial motivation whatsoever and that the racial aggravation conviction could not stand.

Despite knowing of this ruling by a bench of senior judges, the original report remains uncorrected on your publicly accessible Facebook page as of today, 27 August 2026. You have knowingly continued to present the report of a supposed antisemitic5 incident, keeping from readers the ruling by a more senior court that the alleged antisemitic abuse never happened.

This is all the more concerning given that the primary witness in the original trial that led to the quashed conviction, Mr. Sammy Stein, is a member of your Committee, and has recently been arrested and charged following an alleged politically motivated assault on a minor on Buchanan Street, Glasgow.

You will also recall that your Committee member Mr. Stein leads a group which invented an anti-Semitic hate crime and attributed it to SPSC. When the fake antisemitism plot was widely reported in the Scottish press and picket up internationally,, prominent GFoI member Matthew Berlow was forced to pay compensation to SPSC and Mick Napier personally.

Following the Scottish Sheriff Appeal Court’s quashing of the racial aggravation conviction, your Facebook page continues two months later to carry a report which is now seriously misleading, if not downright dishonest.

The racial aggravation conviction was the central focus of your December report and is plainly the aspect of greatest concern to Scottish Jews, some of whom would be relieved to discover that the antisemitic incident you rushed to report, had not taken place.

Your refusal to report the facts as now clarified by the court must raise serious questions as to whether your close working relationship with the Israeli Embassy in London takes priority over accurately reporting matters of antisemitism, real and fake, in Scotland.
Please remove or update your statement of 24 December to take into account the ruling of the Scottish Sheriff Appeal Court of 23 June.
