Scottish Palestine supporters face Court

Four pro-Palestine supporters arrested for disrupting an Israeli group at the Edinburgh International Festival are set to plead ‘not guilty’ to the charge of ‘Breach of the Peace’ at Edinburgh Sheriff Court on Wednesday 31st December.

The campaigners, all members of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign, stood up during the Aug 29th performance by the Jerusalem Quartet and made statements including “End the Siege of Gaza”.

Campaign chairman, Mick Napier, said, “while as we speak Israeli F16 aircraft massacre innocent men women and children in Gaza , we face court simply for trying to shed some light on Israel ’s ongoing crime".

“The UN General Assembly President is now openly calling for a campaign of Boycott, Divestment, and Sanctions against an Israeli state he says must be described as ‘apartheid’, and it is the duty of people of conscience everywhere to take up that call for boycott."

“Israeli cultural ambassadors such as the Jerusalem Quartet need to know that while their state continues to ignore international law, their every tour will be boycotted and will be marred by protest.”

Campaigners say that a protest against the current events in Gaza will take place this Saturday at 12 noon at the bottom of the Mound in Edinburgh
