18 Charges, 0 Convictions — Solidarity Wins in Aberdeen

Marking a massive victory for Palestine solidarity campaigners in Scotland and beyond.

Yet another Aberdeen Sheriff delivered a verdict of ‘No Case To Answer’ in relation to 5 SPSC activists charged with ‘Breach of the Peace’ at a protest against Home Bargains shamefully stocking "Made in Israel" goods.

This is just the most recent batch in a series of wide-ranging bogus charges against Aberdeen activists fighting for the rights of the Palestinian people. Since May 2024 Police Scotland have levelled 18 charges against members of Aberdeen SPSC which have either not been upheld by the Prosecution or taken forward to Court and subsequently dismissed. This is raw proof that these charges have absolutely nothing to do with public safety, but rather are politically motivated. However, we have bad news for Police Scotland and the Crown - your futile repression has exponentially strengthened our movement as well as the Boycott "Made in Israel" campaign in Aberdeen.

Since the arrests, this campaign has escalated at national level with thousands of letters sent to Home Bargains HQ. We raised major awareness amongst the public with many expressing outrage that HB stocks such large volumes of Made in Israel goods. This campaign will further escalate in the coming months until every last Made in Israel product is dropped – please join the campaign.

We also reflect on our privilege of being tried in a civilian court and being acquitted. Palestinians are denied this fundamental right by the Zionist occupiers – Palestinians (including children) are tried in Israeli MILITARY Courts with a >99% conviction rate, and handed lengthy sentences in prisons where they are tortured and often murdered. But we are here to change the course of history and we will not rest until justice, freedom for all prisoners and full national liberation for the Palestinian people.

They can harass us and arrest us but we will never be broken just like the heroic Palestinian resistance that continues to stand up to the brutal zionist occupation. Palestine, you will never walk alone. Intifada until liberation and return!
