Scottish Government is working to protect Israel
"Today's news from Israel reports (YNet in Hebrew - translated into English by a friend there) that the Scottish Government is actively working with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to defeat the Palestinian call to boycott two Israeli State-funded theatre groups at the Festival Fringe. (See SPSC press release of today). It just won't do, either for John Kerry or the Scottish Government, to offer medical assistance to the survivors of Israel's genocidal attack while working to protect Israel from the rising anger of those who want to take practical action against Israeli crimes."
While the Israelis are prosecuting their genocidal attack on Gaza - repeatedly shelling schools, hospitals and refugee centres - the role of the US Secretary John Kerry is predictable. He opens the US stores of military supplies to replenish Israel's stocks that have been depleted by repeated artillery barrages into the most crowded area on earth, Gaza, Palestine. And he comes to Israel with an offer of $47m in medical aid to the people of Gaza. Means of destruction and all-out political suupoprt for Israeli genocide - and medical aid for Palestinian. Truly sickening, like a rapist coming home after a night's grisly work and offering comfort to his victim.
The role of the UK Government is equally barbaric, indistinguishable from that of the US.
Sadly, the role of the Scottish Government is also one of protecting Israel during a genocidal attack on Palestinians in Gaza. Doubly sadly, because Scottish PSC and many others were optimistic about the possible role of the Scottish Government when First Minister Alex Salmond seemed to call for sanctions against Israel on BBC's Question Time when he said after an Israeli murder squad carried out an assassination in a Dubai hotel room that "You can't have normal relationships if you believe another country has been involved in what Israel has been involved in".
That was in 2010; the following year the Scottish Government gave Eden Springs, an Israeli settler company, a grant of £200,000 of Scottish taxpayers' money. This followed an appeal by Eden Springs that "Eden Springs UK is being targetted by the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign" leading to "a wave of protests that is threatening the future of Eden Springs UK".
Fast forward to today and the Scottish Government has "vowed" to oppose the Palestinian call for BDS (Boycott, Divstment and Sanctions), one of the key weapons for a virtually defenceless people facing the endgame in Israel's programme to drive as many Palestinians as possible out of Palestine and replace them with Jewish immigrants from around ther world. The Scottish Government opposes this effort to force Israel to end its crimes against the Palestinian people, now obviously reaching genocidal levels.
But it's worse than rhetorical opposition: todays news from Israel reports (YNet in Hebrew - translated into English by a friend there) that the Scottish Government is actively working with the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs to defeat the Palestinian call to boycott two Israeli State-funded theatre groups at the Festival Fringe. (See SPSC press release of today)
It just won't do, either for John Kerry or the Scottish Government, to offer medical assistance to the survivors of Israel's genocidal attack while working to protect Israel from the rising anger of those who want to take practical action against Israeli crimes.
