Don’t Bank on Apartheid
This Saturday we will return to Barclays to demand the bank ends its complicity in the Genocide in Gaza, and to ask customers to close their accounts and bank elsewhere.
Barclays Bank is facilitating and profiting from the provision of weapons and technology for Israel’s genocide in Gaza, its militarised occupation, apartheid, repression, and killing of Palestinians.
Barclays now holds over £2 billion in shares of eight of the nine companies whose weapons, components, and military technology have been used in Israel’s unlawful violence against Palestinians. Barclays also provides over £6.1 billion in loans and underwriting to seven of these companies.
We hear that the bank has re-invested in Elbit Systems, the Israeli company that is the primary provider of the Israeli military’s land-based equipment and unmanned aerial vehicles, both of which are wreaking such havoc in Gaza and are responsible for the massacres of over 60,000 people including more than 20,000 children. This just demonstrates that BARCLAYS CARES MORE ABOUT PROFIT THAN HUMANITY.
