Film screening: The World Against Apartheid

April 14 @ 18:30 - 21:00 BST

Join us for a film night and discussion – The World Against Apartheid – on April 14th

We’ll explore the power of the sporting boycott against South Africa’s apartheid regime and how international solidarity helped bring it down. The screening will be followed by a panel discussion and a banner/placard-making session.

In the lead-up to the protest against an Israeli representative at the World Bowls Indoor Championships in Aberdeen (April 20), we draw inspiration from history. Just as sports were used to isolate apartheid South Africa, today we respond to the Palestinian call to boycott Israel until it ends its illegal occupation.

NOTE: The venue for the event is the Aberdeen Trades Union Council. The building can be accessed via 2 entrances: The Adelphi which is just off Union Street, and Shiprow;

– To access via Adelphi: from Union Street, walk down Adelphi to near the bottom of the street, go through the tunnel on the left, and down the steps, then turn around to your right for ATUC.

– To access via Shiprow: there is a vehicle entrance to the immediate right of the Maritime Museum. Once you reach the car park, ATUC is on your left, to the left of the steps.
