Israeli Ambassador hides from Edinburgh University protesters
The Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign (SPSC) organized a protest against the presence of the Israeli Ambassador Ron Prosor at Edinburgh University yesterday. Over 100 residents and students came together in harsh weather conditions to protest against Ron Prosor being given a platform at Edinburgh University.
Earlier this year, a similar lecture by the ambassador was cancelled by the university after the human rights group threatened to protest the presence of who they described as “the ambassador of the Apartheid state of Israel”.
Mick Napier, chair of the Scottish Palestine Solidarity Campaign said: "The Israeli Ambassador should not have been allowed a platform to justify Israel’s crimes. Not in a week when Israel attacked and killed 7 Palestinians while claiming it is maintaining a ‘cease-fire’. Not while Israeli bulldozers continue to destroy Palestinian homes in East Jerusalem.”
“Until such times as Israel ceases to boycott the rights of the Palestinian people, people of conscience have a duty to boycott this shameful Israeli PR exercise.”
Adam Dean spokesperson for the SPSC said “These war criminals have blood on their hands and are guilty of breaking International Law. They are not welcome here to justify their ethnic cleansing and murder of children. Israel is the most racist country in the world and should be boycotted for being such”.
