Israel closes off Palestinian territories for Jewish holiday
Israeli forces announced that the West Bank will be held under complete closure from today through Wednesday. It is the end of Ramadan, and Eid al-Fitr will begin Wednesday. The Jewish holiday of Rosh Hashana is Tuesday which is the stated Israeli reason for the closure. Israeli Defense Minister Ehud Barak issued the mandate. Travel within the West Bank is already difficult with over 600 Israeli barriers and checkpoints, but for the next few days movement is expected to be nearly impossible.
