Sample letter to councillors:

Dear Councillor _____________________

The state of Israel faces universal condemnation for the crimes and massacres it perpetrates.  I am writing to draw your attention to recent decision by Dublin, Swansea and other city councils to disallow the company Veolia any contracts while the company profits from complicity in Israel's occupation of Palestinian territory.

West Dunbartonshire Council has joined those bodies who are acting in support of the Palestinian appeal to oppose Israel's crimes through the peaceful and democratic method of the boycott of all Israeli goods until the crimes cease.

I am informed that my council has received a letter from West Dunbartonshire Council urging us to join this growing support for the Palestinian appeal to boycott all Israeli goods.

Please let me know whether you will urge the council to support the call from West Dunbartonshire Council and Palestinian civil society, or not.  Please also let me know whether you are willing to support a motion to this effect in Council.

I look forward to your reply at the earliest which I will circulate among my neighbours in this Ward.  Your reply to this will influence how I vote and urge my neighbours to vote at the next council elections.
