Aberdeen

The SPSC Aberdeen branch became official in 2010 – around the time of Israel’s attacks on the Mavi Marmara.

Since October 2023, Aberdeen has been focusing on organising demos and actions in response to Israel’s ongoing massacre in Gaza. The branch weekly Saturday protests are aimed at protesting Barclays over their financing of arms companies complicit in the genocide – as well as the BBC, Aberdeen City Council headquarters, and other key landmarks in the city.

In 2024, Aberdeen activists engaged in the Apartheid Free Zones Campaign, getting around 25 local organisations and businesses to sign-up, which is something the branch hopes to build on in the coming years. The branch has also been organising actions as part of the SPSC Supermarkets Campaign, and creative protests using banner displays and projections.

SPSC Aberdeen branch has been a strong supporter of the Plant a Tree in Palestine Project as part of the Stop the JNF Campaign for several years. Recently the branch has been focused on fundraising and previously hosting meetings with a focus on the role of the Jewish National Fund (JNF) in colonising Palestine.

The SPSC Aberdeen branch holds regular public meetings, touring speakers, film screenings and fundraisers, often serving wonderful Palestinian food. The branch regularly works with other organisations such as ATUC, the local Trades Council, Aberdeen Social Centre, and many others.

Currently, the branch holds fortnightly branch meetings on a Monday evening for members via Zoom.
