BY THEIR FRIENDS SHALL YE KNOW THEM
On this day in 2009, the late Ian Paisley launched Northern Ireland Friends of Israel. He spoke of the struggles of both Israel and of Northern Ireland against “terrorism”. Paisley obtained a “doctorate in divinity” from Bob Jones University in South Carolina. (It bans “interracial dating”.) He said of Catholics in 1969 that “They breed like rabbits and multiply like vermin”. The event's lead organiser lamented that "Three local authorities passed resolutions boycotting Israel, as did the Irish Congress of Trade Unions”.

Paisley was long a defender of "Ulster" having a "Protestant Government for a Protestant people.". His support for another state based on ethnic supremacy, Israel as a state exclusively for Jewish people, was natural. Although not even Paisley advocated that Northern Ireland should drive out every Catholic and try to represent Protestants around the globe.
DUP leader Peter Robinson denied that he had ever been a paramilitary and claimed photos of him carrying a gun on the Israel-Palestinian border in the 1980s had been "taken out of context" by opponents. He said the picture had been taken at a UN event to promote peace.
Israel's Northern Ireland supporters linked to murder squads
Key figures in the DUP including Ian Paisley were prominent in founding the Ulster Resistance (UR), a quasi-paramilitary stylegroup set up to 'protect Ulster'. In later years, UR allegedlyimported weapons from South Africa - in collaboration with other loyalist terror organisations - some of which were used in loyalist murders in the 1990s.
Why do Northern Irish loyalists feel an afinity for Israeli apartheid?
Ronald Storrs, appointed Military Governor of Jerusalem in 1917, can answer that. For Storrs, the Zionist “enterprise was one that blessed him that gave as well as him that took, by forming for England ‘a little loyal Jewish Ulster’ in a sea of potentially hostile Arabism.” Ulster was the template and the Empire envisaged Zionist Jews as a Loyalist population in Palestine. Storrs said the Palestinian Arabs asking for justice had "as much chance as had the Dervishes before Kitchener`s machine guns at Omdurman".
Israel's ally in his own words. (Rev Paisley saw much through a sexual prism.)
- "Her clothes reek of the brimstone of the pit. Her words and opinions label her the parrot of Beelzebub, her father" - Rev Paisley on the Roman Catholic church
- "O Father, we can see the great pan-nationalist conspiracy, with the Pope as its head, sending his secret messages to the IRA" - Rev Paisley on the Pope"
- "A beast ridden by the harlot Catholic church" - Rev Paisley on the EU
- "Her visit to the Vatican was spiritual fornication and adultery with the Antichrist" - Rev Paisey on the Queen Mother
