TORY MINISTER RESIGNS OVER SUPPORT FOR GAZA ATTACK
On this day in 2014, as Israel’s massacre in Gaza continued, Tory Foreign Office Minister Sayeeda Warsi resigned in protest at UK “morally indefensible” policy on Gaza. Deputy Prime Minister Nick Clegg and the Scottish Government both called the same day for an arms embargo on Israel. Chancellor, George Osborne responded angrily, “This a disappointing and frankly unnecessary decision,” he said. “The British government is working with others in the world to bring peace to Gaza.

Warsi, a senior Foreign Office minister and the Minister for Faith and Communities, resigns over Gaza conflict saying she 'can no longer support Government policy'. She had tweeted earlier as the Israeli massacre proceeded: "Can people stop trying to justify the killing of children. Whatever our politics there can never be justification, surely only regret #Gaza." Responding to public outrage, Labour leader Ed Miliband said it was "wrong" of Mr Cameron not to publicly oppose Israel's incursion into Gaza, adding: "His silence on the killing of hundreds of innocent Palestinian civilians caused by Israel's military action will be inexplicable to people across Britain and internationally." Likewide, pro-Israel Sadiq Khan, the shadow Justice Secretary, said it was "very courageous of my brave friend Sayeeda Warsi to resign over this Government's inexplicable silence and total weakness on the Gaza crisis".
Chancellor George Osborne, number 2 in a Government that supports Israel's serial massacres in Gaza, criticised Warsi's resignation as "unnecessary" since "The British Government is working with others in the world to bring peace to Gaza."
United Nations officials described the Isreli killing of sleeping children as a disgrace to the world and accused Israel of a serious violation of international law after a school in Gaza being used to shelter Palestinian families was shelled on Wednesday. At least 15 people, mostly children and women, died when the school in Jabaliya refugee camp was hit by five shells during a night of relentless bombardment across Gaza. More than 100 people were injured.
Ban Ki-moon, the UN secretary general, said the attack was "outrageous and unjustifiable" and demanded "accountability and justice". The UN said its officials had repeatedly given details of the school and its refugee population to Israel. No sanctions were imposed on Israel.
