ATTACK OF THE ISRAELI BODY SNATCHERS
On this day in 2019, the Israeli Supreme Court ruled that the Israeli government can withhold bodies of Palestinians killed by Israeli forces and use their bodies as bargaining chips in negotiations with Palestinian political factions. The verdict came during an election campaign. Salwa Hamad, head of Jerusalem Legal Aid Center, said “The Supreme Court is an occupation court, and we do not expect it to make decisions in our favour. [There are] fundamental questions about the independence of the Israeli judiciary”.
