FORCED TO DESTROY HIS HOME ON HIS WEDDING DAY
On this day in 2018, Israeli authorities forced Faisal Abu-Binniyah to demolish his home in the village of Wadi Al-Naam on his wedding day. This desperate action was the only way he could avoid a harsh fine for building without a permit. Wadi Al-Naam is one of scores of Palestinian villages known as “unrecognised villages”, some of them older than the State of Israel, where over 80,000 Palestinian citizens of Israel are denied basic services such as housing, water, electricity, education and health care.

في مثل هذا اليوم من عام ٢٠١٨، أجبرت السلطات الإسرائيلية المحتلّة فيصل أبو بنيّة على هدم منزله في قرية وادي النعام في يوم زفافه. كان هذا العمل اليائس هو الطريقة الوحيدة لتجنب غرامة قاسية للبناء بدون تصريح. قرية وادي النعام هي واحده من عشرات القرى المعروفة باسم "القرى غير المعترف بها" وبعضها أقدم من دولة إسرائيل، حيث يحرم أكثر من ٨٠,٠٠٠ مواطن فلسطيني في القرى الفلسطينية من الخدمات الأساسية مثل الإسكان والمياه والكهرباء والتعليم والرعاية الصحية
