US THREATENS ICC ON BEHALF OF ISRAEL
On this day in 2019, US President Trump welcomed an ICC decision not to investigate American military who had committed war crimes in Afghanistan. “Any attempt to target American, Israeli, or allied personnel for prosecution will be met with a swift and vigorous response”. Six months earlier the US had expressed “concerns about Palestinian attempts to prompt an ICC investigation of Israel” and threatened that the US "will not allow the ICC, or any other organization, to constrain Israel's right to self-defence."
